Description: Doctors and patients alike have shown excitement over a new generation of novel agents for the treatment of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that allows some patients to take continuous, oral medications with less toxicity than traditional chemotherapy. While these drugs may offer kinder, gentler treatment paths for patients, they still deliver some level of toxicity. Dr. Andrew Zelenetz, former chief of the lymphoma service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and current vice chair of medical informatics, says that this is a consideration that patients with indolent lymphoma should take into account before beginning long-term continuous treatment.
