About vitaloptions
Location: United States, Studio City, 91604
Description: Vital Options International is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit cancer communications organization with a mission to generate global cancer conversations. Founded in 1983 by Selma Schimmel when she was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 28, it began as the first psychosocial and advocacy organization specifically targeted to address the unique needs of young adults with cancer. For over a decade, Vital Options was a pioneering force for young adults with cancer between the ages of 17 through their early 40’s. Today, as a cancer education, advocacy, and communication organization and through its Advocacy in Action and Vital Options (formerly The Group Room) platforms, VOI gathers and disseminates the latest information about clinical trials, treatment advances, psychosocial issues, access to care, and other topics faced by patients and providers. VOI hosts panel discussions and one-on-one interviews with oncology thought leaders at gatherings such as the annual European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conferences. VOI makes these discussions on the most current and compelling issues in oncology directly accessible for use by patients, caregivers, advocates, and medical professionals.
