Description: Maria-Victoria Mateos, MD, PhD, from the University Hospital of Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain, discusses clinical trials that are currently investigating the effects of single-dose drugs and combination therapy for the management of relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (MM). The OPTIMISMM trial (NCT01734928) is a Phase III study evaluating the efficacy and safety of pomalidomide, bortezomib and low-dose dexamethasone vs. bortezomib and low-dose dexamethasone; and the KEYNOTE-183 (NCT02576977) trial is investigating the effects of pembrolizumab in combination with pomalidomide and low-dose dexamethasone in patients that have already undergone at least two lines of prior treatment.
