Description: Voluntary, non-remunerated blood donations are uncommon in developing countries and ethnic minority populations. Kenneth Charles, MBBS, FRCP, FRCPath(Haem), from the University of the West Indies (St Augustine), Mount Hope, Trinidad & Tobago, spoke to us at the British Society for Haematology (BSH) 2018 Annual Meeting in Liverpool, UK, about his successful project to increase voluntary blood donations in Trinidad & Tobago through engagement with young populations and use of social media.
