The role of imaging techniques in defining response in multiple myeloma
Description: Evangelos Terpos, MD, PhD, University of Athens, Athens, Greece gives an overview of the session on imaging and disease assessment in multiple myeloma (MM) held at the 2016 World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) in Paris, France. Dr Terpos explains that even though the standard criteria of reponse (complete response, partial response and progressive or stable disease) are defined by the International Myeloma Working Group, there are responses beyond the complete response (CR). He outlines the role of imaging in defining myeloma and complete response as well as the role of minimal residual disease (MRD) and the criteria that can be used to decide which patients need therapy at diagnosis using imaging techniques such as MRI, PET-CT and some novel techniques such as diffusion weighted imaging MRI.
Recorded at the 2016 World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) in Paris, France.
