Description: A CT scan, or CAT scan, takes many x-ray images from different angles. The computer takes all the data and creates pictures. The pictures are like sections of the whole. It is like looking at a loaf of bread cut into slices – one slice can be seen at a time.

There is some easy preparation before the test
• Drink at least 1-3 cups (8oz–24oz) of water/ clear juice before the scan
• Do not eat 3-4 hours before the scan

Some blood tests may be ordered. If you are on chemo, the blood work must be within 2 weeks from your last chemo treatment. Please tell the staff if you are pregnant or might be.
